Christmas lunch and Christmas Party 1 (Not) – Our work Christmas lunch – we went to Italian (La Figa in Crossharbour) which serves the biggest portions I have aver seen. Their calzone must be more than 40 cm across, unbelievable (and also tasty). I really thought I would never eat again (wrong of course, there was a snacky dinner). Another opportunity for „funny“ Secret Santa – quite unusually I got assorted sticky Christmas decorations, bubbles (the type the children play with?) and lovely two candles. Luckily this year there were not „entertaining“ presents such as blow-up breasts (an ideal Secret Santa present, especially when made to serve as a cup holder etc.) or similar novelties.
It just happened that I had an invite for a Christmas party at the Czech Centre for the same date – an evening with Christmas biscuits, sandwiches, carols, etc. – as the e-card promised. Joseph seems to be fairly good at psychology and swaying me in his preferred direction as rather than saying “Do you really want to go,” he applied a completely different strategy: ”I would come with you (it started at 6pm) but you know you will need to get some new party dress and make up. You do not have any and you cannot really go in your work suit”. That resolved my dilemma, given how I “love” shopping (I can handle supermarkets or shopping for presents etc.) but clothes shopping for myself is a bit of a no-no, we both stayed home – and what a nice evening it was.
